ADMISSION 2009 (DOCTORAL PROGRAMME) - INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT KOZHIKODE (IIMK)

DOCTORAL PROGRAMME
FELLOW PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT (FPM)
Applications are invited for the programme.
Areas of Specialization:
Finance, Accounting and Control, Information Technology and Systems, Marketing Management, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources, Quantitative Methods and Operations Management, Strategic Management.

FELLOWSHIP:


Rs.12000/- per month as Common Fellowship (Indian residents only) for 4 years. An additional amount is possible for top performers form second year. A contigency grant of Rs.90000/- over 4 years (including support for laptop)
ADMISSION PROCESS:

The admission to FPM of IIMK will be open to all Indian citizens, Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian Origin and foreigners. Admission will be based on academic qualifications, performance in the qualifying examination, personal interviews and work experience. Candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude.

Eligibility :
(i) The candidates should possess one of the following qualifications.

Post-Graduate degree or equivalent in any discipline (including M.A, M.Sc., M.Com, MBA, MCA, M.Tech) with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Professional qualifications of CA, ICWA and CS with at least 50% marks or equivalent.
Professional qualifications such as MBBS and LLB with at least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.
Engineering degrees, viz., B.Tech and BE, with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.

Those who are appearing for their final examinations for the above qualifications in 2008-2009 are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection will be subject to successful completion of all requirements for the qualification latest by June 30, 2009.
(ii) Areas offering FPM in 2009-10 and the Qualifying Examination :
A candidate applying for FPM of IIMK should have a valid test score not older than two years from the date of application in any of the following tests shown against each area of specialisation:

6. Strategic Management — CAT, GMAT/GRE, UGC/CSIR JRF, GATE

Candidates possessing PGDM of IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.33 or equivalent will be eligible for applying directly, i.e., without again taking a qualifying examination.

IIMK encourages applications from Non-Resident Indians, Persons of Indian origin and foreign citizens. Such candidates should have a valid GMAT/GRE score of not older than 2 years from the date of application.
(iii) Personal Interview :
Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interview at IIMK (or any other venue fixed by the Institute) on a suitable date. During the interview, the candidates will be assessed for their intellectual abilities and research aptitude as well as their interest in management discipline.
SELECTION:
Based on applicant’s profile and test scores in any of the following tests: CAT, GMAT/GRE, UGC/CSIR JRF, GATE (see IIMK webstie for details of area-wise specification of tests) and personal interview at IIM Kozhikode. Scores of the above tests should not be older than two years (as on January 1, 2009). Candidates holding PGDM of any of the IIMs with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 out of 4.33 or equivalent can pply directly without again appearing for any tests. Travel support is available up to IIIAC train fare by shortest route to candidates (Indian residents only) called for interview.

FELLOW PROGRAMME IN MANAGEMENT (FPM)
IIM Kozhikode (IIMK), is a leading Post Graduate institution of excellence in management research, education, training and development in the Asia-Pacific region has started its Doctoral Programme, Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in the year 2007-2008. IIMK recognizes the fact that no top class academic institution of higher learning will be able to preserve its quality without emphasis on top quality research. The FPM of IIMK aims at developing top quality researchers and faculty resources for academic institutions including IIMs, and it envisages itself as a leading source of top quality management experts and thinkers for business organizations, government and society in India and abroad.
The FPM programme of IIMK strives to incorporate the strengths of similar programmes in other IIMs while it also tries to introduce new strengths and certain innovative features in the programme. The purpose of such efforts is to overcome any weaknesses in the Fellow Programmes elsewhere and to bring out the best in the Fellows coming out of the programme.
The programme duration is normally 4 years while it can be completed any time after 3 years. If sufficient grounds exist, the tenure of a Fellow participant can be extended, with reduced rate of fellowship, upto 4½ years.
